Mini-cPIE (COVID-19 vaccination IAR) Clinic 1: Experience Sharing and Lessons Learned
Languages available: English, French, and Spanish
Registration link: https://who.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_o74Q4zYrSZuyUGnukqYGww
As countries conduct mini COVID-19 vaccine Post-Introduction Evaluation (mini-cPIE), also called the COVID-19 Vaccination Intra-Action Review (IAR), to review and adjust their COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, WHO will be hosting regular clinics for countries to share learnings with peer countries.
Countries that have already conducted a mini-cPIE will be invited to share their experiences, while countries interested in conducting a mini-cPIE can have the opportunity to directly connect with these countries to seek advice and ask questions they may have, including practical tools and tips for the preparation, conduct and follow-up of a mini-cPIE. Countries can also use these clinics to propose new tools they deem useful or request technical support from WHO.
This webinar is the first of the series of clinics that will be held in the coming months as countries review the early phase of their vaccine roll-out using the WHO IAR (mini-cPIE) tools.

This is a session among our series to share experiences and lessons learned from A to Z of the EIR implementation in Vietnam, from the design, development, deployment, and paperless transition of an EIR. In this session, we will explore and evaluate the NIIS from the perspective of immunization staff – the ultimate users of this system.
Systems that suit their intended uses and users don’t just “happen.” They are essentially products of a user-centered development process and a user-centered attitude during the implementation of usable systems – systems that support and engage users, rather than get in the way and hinder them throughout time. Likewise, NIIS have continued evolving to stand the test of time and bear the weight of users’ criticism. PATH worked closely with immunization staff at all levels at piloted localities to identify and focus on these real users and their needs, goals, context of use, abilities, and limitations to drive the development. It has been a decade-long process of growth, adaptation, learning, and overcoming challenges from both the NIIS and the immunization staff to bring about the system that truly serves users not only on their daily tasks but also on the overall national immunization program.
Presenters:
- Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Huyen - Vice Head, NEPI Office, National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Vietnam
- Dr. Nga Nguyen – Vietnam Country Director, PATH, Vietnam
- Mr. Dao Dinh Sang – IDEAL Team Lead, PATH, Vietnam

Ending the COVID-19 pandemic is dependent upon all countries having access to vaccines. But demand is outpacing supply by billions of doses, and many countries still don’t have access to the vaccines they need to control the virus and protect their populations.
This PATH Live Forum will take a closer look at what has worked—and what hasn’t worked—in the global effort to increase equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. Join our panelists in a discussion about priorities for this pandemic, as well as how to build sustainable immunization systems for future pandemic preparedness.

Ensuring that immunization services are accessible to all individuals is an essential part of primary health care and achieving universal health coverage (UHC). In recent years, vaccines have protected more of the world’s population than ever before, increasing life expectancy and economic growth; yet the use of immunization services has flatlined for a decade. Strategic Priority 1 of the recently launched Immunization Agenda 2030 provides a roadmap that aims to increase and sustain vaccination coverage within a primary healthcare agenda that supports UHC.
USAID's MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership invites you to attend a webinar, “A Roadmap for Progress in Global Immunization Systems,” on Wednesday, May 26 at 9:30am ET.
Panelists will raise awareness among the technical, practitioner, and advocacy communities on the objectives of IA2030 Strategic Priority 1 around primary health care and UHC for immunization services. Please join us as we examine and unpack the core principles of IA2030, ensuring our efforts are people-focused, country-owned, partnership-based, and data-enabled.

About this webinar
With this webinar, we would like to share with you some of the new tools and resources WHO has developed to support countries in monitoring inequalities in immunization:
French, Portuguese and Spanish versions of the Inequality monitoring in immunization: a step-by-step manual, a detailed guide to monitoring inequalities in immunization.
Updated versions of the Health Equity Assessment Toolkit (HEAT and HEAT Plus), a software application for assessing health inequalities, including in immunization.
Background
The WHO Immunization Agenda 2030: a global strategy to leave no one behind envisions a world where everyone, everywhere, at every age, fully benefits from vaccines for good health and wellbeing. The new Gavi five-year strategy (‘Gavi 5.0’) has the vision to ‘leave no one behind with immunization’ and increase equitable use of vaccines. This year’s World Immunization Week highlights that #VaccinesWork to bring us closer – including to a fairer, healthier world.
Key messages
Monitoring inequalities in immunization is essential to ensuring no one is left behind and achieving equity in immunization, including for COVID-19.Inequality monitoring in immunization should be an integral part of a country’s health information system.
To support countries in building capacity for the uptake and improvement of health inequality monitoring, including in immunization, the WHO has developed several tools and resources, including a global status report, an in-depth equity report, a step-by-step manual and a software application. All materials are publicly available via the WHO Health Equity Monitor.
This April 2021, WHO is launching French, Portuguese and Spanish versions of the Inequality monitoring in immunization: a step-by-step manual as well as new versions of the Health Equity Assessment Toolkit (HEAT and HEAT Plus) software.
Going forward, WHO will continue to support countries in monitoring inequalities in immunization (e.g. through self-paced online courses and facilitated training workshops). WHO will also continue to generate global evidence on inequality in immunization, including in zero-dose children and gender barriers to immunization.
